According to the Elizabethtown Borough Official Website and the Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania Wikipedia page, the borough’s origins date to 1753 when Captain Barnabas Hughes laid out a settlement along the Conoy Creek, naming it in honor of his wife, Elizabeth.
